Urban Organic designed and built the rooftop kitchen garden for The Culpeper pub back in 2015, creating a productive space that supplies fresh ingredients for the kitchen while offering customers a unique setting to enjoy.
The garden was designed to be both functional and flexible, and featured a 20-metre-long raised bed with 30 mobile planters that easily transformed into an events space.
In 2025, we redesigned and replanted the space, transforming it into a rooftop woodland. Guests now sit among birch and hazel trees, with amelanchier and crab apple adding height and structure. Beneath them, a tapestry of berries, grasses, ferns, mints, woodruff, and wild strawberries creates layers of texture and scent. With a perennial, woodland-inspired planting scheme, this low maintenance garden is designed to evolve and mature over time
