Outdoor seating area with wooden tables, benches, and umbrellas in a lush restaurant kitchen garden setting in East London, innovative edible gardens and sustainable urban agriculture solutions.

Our biggest edible landscaping project is a beautiful cedar wood constructed kitchen garden for the award winning Barge East restaurant in Hackney Wick. This garden is a contemporary interpretation of a traditional ‘potager,’ combining both functionality and beauty. It features chestnut seating, apple-trained arches, and a pergola draped with flourishing hops.

Guests sit within the planting, fully immersed in the garden’s lush environment. As they enjoy their meals, they experience a sensory journey, surrounded by the vibrant colours, scents, and textures of the garden. The produce, tended by Urban Organic growers, is harvested fresh and serves as a key ingredient in the restaurant’s menu, enhancing the dining experience.

This garden embodies key sustainability principles, including biodiversity, local food production, water-efficient irrigation, composting, and the use of natural materials.
