THTC are all about making clothes that don’t destroy the planet in the process. Primarily using Hemp, with organic cotton, they strive to break the stereotypical views of hemp clothing being for old ‘hippies’, and intend to ‘drive hemp into the realm of credible, urban street wear.’ THTC have a range of T-shirts in a variation of colours with a multitude of prints (spreading messages of an anti-globalisation flavour, very often with a great sense of humour thrown in there too.) Designed by like-minded graphic designers and hip hop graffiti artists, not only do these T’s look and feel great, but spread messages on a variety of levels.
Founded in Australia in ’95, Braintree Hemp is committed to creating good quality products that don’t ‘cost the earth’. Their slogan: “wear what the world can afford” sums this up quite nicely. Using hemp has other benefits too, not only is it easy to grow, using almost no pesticides and herbicides, but it is three times stronger than cotton. On top of all this hemp material is hypoallergenic and thermodynamic. Meaning its “kind on skin allergies and keeps you warm in the cold and cool in the heat.” Braintree are currently producing lines that veer away from the old stigma that goes with hemp clothing, the days of itchy, drab looking products is long gone. Their new range is colourful and vibrant with products to suit all ages.
